The Luke Wenke Files

Luke Wenke has an established habit of bothering people in ways that no one else would, then denying it when he gets called out for it. For example, the screenshot below shows a message that Wenke sent me about the long-defunct message board website Topix in the spring of 2021. I would later discover screenshots of messages he sent to other recipients from the same number claiming to be Carl Paladino (see below).

I initially pretended to have no idea who was messaging me, but I decided to respond with a piece of my mind. At the time, Wenke and I were on non-talking terms after a blow-out months earlier because I had told him I was sick of being treated like shit when I was a good friend to him.

All that aside, it doesn’t exactly take a genius to deduct that there’s a 99.99999% chance Luke Wenke was behind that message. He’s the only person I know who still talks about Topix to this day (he reflects on his days harassing people on the site in a sickeningly nostalgic fashion), the fact that someone else received a message from the same number claiming to be Carl Paladino only increases the likelihood that it was Wenke, given his bizarre obsession with the WNY businessman.

Of course, Wenke probably won’t ever admit to being the person behind those text messages, just like he denied sending harassing letters to his victims after blatantly admitting to it on social media (see the 2023 collection below). Here are some examples reflecting this pattern of Wenke thinking he’s slick, at times even taunting his targets in an “I know you know, but you technically can’t prove it was me” sort of way. To add insult to injury, he also accuses me and others of impersonating him and doing other things that he’s actually doing.
